Pure Bean Coffee Roasters: A Blend of History and Modernity
I had the incredible opportunity to photograph Pure Bean Coffee Roasters in South Dakota for a feature in Architectural Digest’s “Most Beautiful Coffee Shops Across the United States.” This project was a unique blend of capturing the artisanal craft of coffee making and the historical charm of a reclaimed building.
The Coffee Craft
At Pure Bean, coffee isn’t just a drink; it’s an experience. Photographing the staff as they crafted beautiful lattes and custom brewed coffee drinks was a delight. Their skill and passion for coffee shine through in every cup. One standout feature is their unique espresso machine, the Mavam. Unlike traditional machines, the Mavam has all its brew tanks hidden underneath the counter, allowing the barista to engage with customers without a barrier. This design not only looks sleek but also enhances the customer experience, making each interaction more personal.
A Historic Space
Pure Bean’s location is steeped in history. The building, once a dairy milk factory bottling milk for the Rapid City area, has been meticulously reclaimed and transformed into a modern coffee haven. Photographing the space and its exterior was a journey through time, showcasing the blend of old and new. The use of eco-friendly products further highlights their commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.
Telling Their Story
Capturing the essence of Pure Bean Coffee Roasters was more than just a photography job; it was about telling their story. The rich history of the building, combined with their innovative approach to coffee making, earned them the title of South Dakota’s most beautiful coffee shop in the
Architectural Digest feature. I am incredibly proud to have been a part of this journey, showcasing their dedication to quality and community.
